Temporary Work Permit Requirements

Temporary work permit are for persons who want to gain entry into Nigeria for employment opportunities over a fixed period of time, or for Companies and organisations wishing to engage the services of expatriates for short period assignments. This is an approved visa endorsement authorizing an Immigrant to enter Nigeria for the purpose of performing a specific job within a specified period of time. Such jobs include but not limited to Installation/Repair of machines. Auditing of accounts, training or any other specialist job which Nigeria lacks the expertise. Temporary work permit are usually issued for a period of 3 months. All Temporary work permit visa must be approved by the Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service (CGIS).


  1. Visa approval Letter (pre-approved visa letter) valid for 90 days from the date of issuance
  2. Passport with 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages for visa endorsement
  3. 2 passport sized photographs (35/40mm) on a white background taken within the last 6 months.
  4. Duly completed Visa Form IMM22
  5. Evidence of payment of Visa fee

The Corporate Body in Nigeria files a formal request to the CGI on your behalf stating the following:

  • Name of visitor
  • Passport number
  • Nationality
  • Purpose and duration of visit
  • Mission where Visa is to be issued
  • Acceptance of Immigration Responsibility

The application shall be attached with the following documents in support of the application:

  • Company profile*
  • Certificate of Incorporation*
  • CAC 2 & 7*
  • Copy of Data page of the Expatriate’s Passport
  • Evidence of existing contract
